From blueprint to business value
The Agentic AI Programme from Imperial College London is a seven-week online agentic AI programme developed for professionals like you who want to turn agentic AI opportunities into scalable business outcomes. As organisations adopt increasingly autonomous AI systems, the programme equips you with the strategic frameworks and practical perspective to assess which workflows need agents, design agentic architectures and stress-test working multi-agent systems while evaluating AI autonomy, governance and deployment readiness.
Through faculty insights, practical exercises, real-world examples and a hands-on capstone project, you will leave with a stronger understanding of how to lead agentic AI initiatives and develop an Agentic AI Solution Blueprint.
Participants are not required to have a technical or coding background to benefit from the programme and its practical application of agentic AI.
Solution design: design agentic AI solution blueprints that align autonomy, decision-making and user experience with a defined business opportunity.
Agentic system testing: stress-test a working multi-agent system, diagnose quiet failures using behavioural evidence and test guard rails under failure conditions.
Pilot readiness and scale: evaluate the readiness, performance and scalability of agentic systems within an organisational context.
Responsible adoption: analyse the ethical, strategic and organisational considerations required to integrate agentic capabilities responsibly.
Strategic leadership: assess emerging industry trends and innovation opportunities to lead strategic agentic AI initiatives.
Capstone integration: develop a presentation-ready Agentic AI Product Blueprint that brings together product design, architecture, evidence, governance, pilot readiness and scaling.
Explore the shift from predictive and generative AI to agentic systems, and examine where autonomy can create business value. Assess workplace workflows for agentic suitability, consider organisational enablers and barriers, and identify a bounded opportunity to develop throughout the programme.
Examine where stand-alone generative AI reaches its limits and when agentic capabilities are warranted. Calibrate autonomy and human oversight for a workplace workflow. Then specify the tools, permissions, guardrails, escalation points, reporting and definition of done required for responsible agent behaviour.
Translate your agency requirements into a first-release agentic architecture. Make deliberate choices about model fit, context and memory, essential tools and architecture or orchestration; estimate the cost per useful outcome; make time-to-value trade-offs; and identify a quiet failure and the check that could catch it.
Work hands-on with a browser-based multi-agent system running a market-entry analysis workflow. Establish a healthy baseline, inject quiet faults into orchestration and data access, diagnose failures using measured evidence, and write and test a guard rail while the fault remains active.
Assess whether an agentic AI initiative is ready for a responsible pilot using the 5R Agentic Readiness Framework and supporting governance tools. Evaluate reliability, resources, responsibility, repair, return, dependency and user experience risks to support an evidence-based Go, Go with Guard Rails, Redesign, Pause or Stop decision.
Evaluate the scalability of an agentic AI pilot across technical, organisational and governance dimensions. Identify bottlenecks, monitoring requirements and interconnected system risks, and develop a practical scale-up road map for responsible adoption.
Explore how agentic AI can create long-term value through new products, services, business models and forms of human–AI collaboration. Integrate strategic, workforce and adoption considerations into your final agentic AI product blueprint.
The Agentic AI Programme combines practical exercises, real-world examples, proven frameworks and a cumulative applied capstone project to help you apply agentic AI concepts in a business context.

You will develop an Agentic AI Solution Blueprint for a real or supplied business opportunity. Across the programme, you will progress from opportunity identification and autonomy design to first-release architecture, unit economics, behavioural evidence, responsible-pilot assessment and a strategy for organisational scale.
In Module 4, you will apply the testing principles from your own design work to a working multi-agent sandbox, observing how apparently healthy agentic systems can fail quietly and how evidence-based controls can reduce risk. You will use these lessons to inform the testing and control approach for your own initiative.
Stress-test a working multi-agent system
