This 11-week programme provides participants with a thorough understanding of the past, present, and future of private equity as well as the opportunities and risks it presents for investors and insights into recent developments in emerging markets. Unlike many finance courses this is not an overly quantitative programme. While the discussion of valuation contains quantitative work, the main focus will be on analytics—especially qualitative factors.
Begin the programme by introducing yourself to your global classmates and becoming familiar with the learning platform used throughout the curriculum.
Examine the history of private equity, analyse the types of companies and their motivation for investing in private equity and describe the various stages of private equity investing.
Identify private equity financing opportunities, determine the value creation drivers in growth capital, development capital, leveraged buyouts, and distressed situations, and analyse the factors to take a private company public.
Analyse the performance and sustainability of private equity funds, differentiate between sub-asset classes, determine the impact of diversification on asset allocation, identify the stages of the investment process, and assess the available deal opportunity sources.
Examine the principles of financial modeling, demonstrate the steps of LBO analysis, utilise the available valuation techniques, and discuss the process of negotiations.
